During his 35–plus years of faithful corporate service, he spearheaded a host of groundbreaking projects. One key accomplishment is the 5,000–acre riverine township of Bandar Baru Samariang. Apart from his strong technical involvement and contributions, Dato' Sri Dr. Chew is also an accomplished orator and business segment pioneer. He inspired marketing teams to a remarkable 165% gain in total sales revenue and associated reduction of 63% in total number of ready-built properties, improving market awareness of the township while cementing CMS Property on the path of aggressive expansion.
In a separate engagement, he played a pivotal role in the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between China National Electric Equipment Corporation and a group of Malaysian companies for the 500KV "Missing Link" Project in Malaysia valued at RM3.5 billion.
Abroad, his career highlight includes the master planning of 13,000 acres of mixed development in Jinan, Shangdong Province, China – an exercise comprising design, assessment, and construction of all site infrastructures.
Social philanthropist by nature, he negotiated for the construction of 1,000 single-story terrace army personnel housing units (Koperasi Perumahan Angkatan Tentera Berhad); led the construction of accommodation facilities for 6,000 Universiti Teknologi Malaysia students; supporting the Tuanku Jaafar Power Station Rehabilitation Project in Port Dickson for South East Asia's largest power provider, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB); donated land for the relocation of a Chinese primary school and kindergarten to Bandar Baru Samariang; as well as facilitating the sale of land for the Halal Hub development.
His strengths in design and engineering consultation, project management, property development, infrastructure construction and project privatization extends well beyond new projects. He is also the maverick behind the recovery and turnaround of abandoned projects with technical and financial complications, including projects under Bank Negara TPU and TPPT.
Dato' Sri Dr. Chew is also highly valued for his business acumen, having hands-on involvement in IPOs, reverse takeovers, mergers and acquisitions as well as other corporate turnaround schemes.
He is currently as an Advisor for POSC TI Sdn. Bhd. mandated by Terengganu State Government for the KPT (Knowledge Park Terengganu).
